Drawing on the illustrious liqueur-making tradition of Venice, Amaro Laguna Nord celebrates the city's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, with the Rialto Market serving as a vital trading post for the finest spices, herbs and roots sourced from far-off lands. Echoes of this past can still be seen in the old pharmacy signs and the marks left on the stones by the large bronze mortars used to grind and mix botanicals.
Amaro Laguna Nord adheres to the ancient Venetian liquor-making traditions outlined in the Code of Conduct for Venetian Apothecaries of 1258, which required distillers to swear an oath to use only the finest botanicals and to follow a precise preparation method influenced by astral cycles.
Infusions, extracts and distillates of 42 botanicals come together to create a perfect blend that beautifully balances the aromatic nuances of oriental spices, the balsamic notes of alpine herbs, the aromas of Mediterranean fruit and botanicals and the distinctive bitterness of sea wormwood, the reigning herb of the Venetian lagoon.
The recipe requires a 45-day infusion process for the botanicals, followed by blending and 180 days of refining before bottling.
Notes of Sea Wormwood, Bitter Orange and Star Anise fill the nose. On the palate, the bitterness of Sea Wormwood is accompanied by citrus and sweet spices. A lingering finish showcases the persistent vegetal freshness of Gentian Root and Artichoke.
Enjoy it neat, on the rocks or mixed into a very Venetian spritz.
